Legal threat to Kent Mauresmo - unfortunate attempt of Freelancer.com

After complaints after complaints by the users about it's malpractices, when it became irresistible for the outsourcing market place to tolerate free speech and true stories, freelancer.com chose the way of threatening. A former users of the site wrote a blog entry describing his sufferings with the site and got huge response from the readers. There are still some 350+ comments there. His ISP was sent a legal notice claiming that the blogger is violating copyright and the blogger himself was threatened by saying that he was defaming the company. Freelancer.com failed to understand the old saying - "what you reap is what you saw".

The truth revealing former user is threatened for copyright infringement. Copyright of what? The logo of the company was posted with the article. The company itself provides its logo in its media kit for using. How can they threat someone posting their logo? How can that infringe their copyright given that they themselves provided the logo in their media kit? Moreover, as the article was about freelancer.com, it was relevant to use their logo as their identity.

Kent Mauresmo, the truth revealing former user who described that how as an employer he had to fought for getting his money back at last removed the logo from his post. Along with copyright infringement false claim, freelancer.com asked him to remove all the comments made by the users on that post to share their bad experiences with the service. But Kent Mauresmo dared to deny their demand and kept the comments online.

Those people at freelancer.com who are spending their resources in threatening bloggers, wouldn't have to do it if they had taken appropriate care of their users when they reached them for help. Even from kent's post it is clear that they doesn't bother about the freelancers and employers unless they raise their voices against the sites misdeeds in forums, sites and blogs.

Just because giant sites are full of resources to send legal threats to anyone does not mean that they can hide their atrocities, oppression and misdeeds. There are is still free spaces where truth can reside. To read Kent Mauresmo's experience and those 350+ comments please visit - http://read2learn.net/freelancer-com-scam-2012/
