The surprise of NEGATIVE BALANCE - J.S. Wayne's experience

The issue of ripping a worker off through project fee where the worker is not paid for the said project has caused J.S. Wayne to leave the site forever. But as his balance was negative freelancer.com was reluctant about hearing his request. But how his balance gone negative? The answer is "project fee" for accepting a project for which the employer never paid him. Freelancer said that as his account balance is negative, his account will remain temporarily suspended unless he deposits money.

J.S. Wayne wrote- They say "it's free". Is it actually free or just a dishonest luring statement! They freezes accounts if there is negative balance caused by employer's action of abandoning a project. Why the worker's account be punished for that by temporarily (until he pays money for the failure of the employer) suspending an account?

After the negative balance incident freelancer sent message to the freelancer -

Hi JSWayne,Your Freelancer.com account balance is negative. Please deposit funds urgently! Your account JSWayne may be temporarily suspended if your balance remains negative. Please login to your account and deposit funds.

J.S. Wayne wrote in his blog - If the client doesn’t furnish me the things I need to do the job, I can’t perform. If I don’t do a job, I don’t get paid for the job. That being the case, how precisely am I supposed to pay a commission on work I never performed through no fault of my own and hence was never paid for?


Freelancer.com just cant wait!

They suspends user account along with the milestone payment that is to be released as the account having NEGATIVE BALANCE. They asks the user to deposit fund to pay the dues caused by the advance project fee taking system. When a user has money for him/her as milestone payment and which will be released within some days, why they need to create pressure on the user by suspending the account? If they hadn't suspended the account with milestone payment they could get their money from that ammount when it would be released. But they just can't wait. Thus NEGATIVE BALANCE becomes another excuses to withhold user's money. The victim posted the message that was sent from freelancer.com-
